Born in Coulsdon, Surrey, grew up in Norfolk, finally moving to the Cotswolds.
He served during WW2 with the Royal Engineers.
He became a member of the Royal Society of British Artists and The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour.
He wrote many articles and several teaching books on watercolour painting.
He established the Windrush Gallery where he held annual exhibitions and ran regular painting courses.
His work remains greatly admired and highly collectable to this day.
